How I found my purpose
How does a high-functioning, employed, alcoholic find daily sobriety outside of the normal resources of 12 step programs? At 36, I found sobriety by “Running with Purpose 365”. Changing my addictive mindset from damaging to enhancing by focusing on healthy living. Physical activity is the core to my recovery. I have tried most programs- but found that it wasn't enough to gain the success I needed. Not willing to stay in my addictive, bingeing lifestyle, I quickly realized that I needed to find another direction that would constitute a strong enough incentive to keep me sober .
“Running with Purpose 365” is the result of my ongoing life journey: helping me manage and conquer my alcoholic behavior. Keeping my mind relaxed, body strong and soul/emotions healthy keeps my alcohol addiction in remission. I feel that not everyone with substance abuse issues fit into the mainstream recovery solutions. People with high energy levels might find that physical activity relates more to their needs and may be a perfect addition to AA meetings and other recovery resources. My passion in life is to become an addiction specialist and be able to offer a holistic method to conquer addictions. I am living my dream one day at a time!
